The Endymions take their name from Keat's great epic poem, Ode to Endymion, which begins, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever". Thus, the Endymion Ensemble was founded to perform pieces that because of their unusual size or instrumentation are seldom heard in professional performances. This repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary and contains many masterworks audiences will be thrilled to discover. Endymion Ensemble performs in the round to afford the audience the most intimate experience. The audience surrounds the musicians during the performance. Comprised of the finest leading free-lance instrumentalists in the Washington metropolitan area, and led by Music Director, Jon Goldberg, the Endymions are a new and refreshing addition to Washington's thriving musical life.
